GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF TUY AN DISTRICT

Tuy An is a plain district of Phu Yen province; the place name Tuy An dates back to 1611, when Phu Yen was formed in the process of expanding the territory to the south of the Nguyen Dynasty. This land is considered a heritage site of Phu Yen province with 9 historical, cultural and national scenic spots; in which Ganh Da Dia is a special national relic with unique and fascinating natural and geological landscapes in Vietnam.

The district has a natural area of ​​408.04 km2, population of 123,727 people (2023). Population density is 303 people/km2. The number of administrative units of the district as of December 31, 2023 includes 01 town and 14 communes. Tuy An district is geographically located in the north of Phu Yen province, 30km from Tuy Hoa city; to the west it borders Son Hoa district, Dong Xuan district, to the north it borders Song Cau town, to the east it borders the East Sea. Adjacent to many national highways and provincial roads of good quality, with the North-South railway passing through, relatively close to the airport, seaport, located between Tuy Hoa city and Song Cau town, convenient for communication and travel to districts, towns, cities in the province and the Central Highlands provinces, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City.

Tuy An carries with it a depth and cultural sediment, a land with a long history associated with natural heritages, cultural heritages associated with the formation and development of this land, in which, the most typical is the Tuy An stone trumpet and lithophone dating back more than 2,500 years ago. Among the national and special national relics and scenic spots of Phu Yen province that have been ranked, Tuy An accounts for the majority, with 9 scenic spots and historical sites: Ganh Da Dia, Go Thi Thung Tunnel, Ngan Son - Chi Thanh Massacre, Le Thanh Phuong's Tomb and Temple, Da Trang Pagoda, An Tho Citadel, O Loan Lagoon, Hon Yen Complex and Xuan Dai Bay. Among them, Ganh Da Dia is ranked as a special national landscape; is a destination ranked by the Vietnam Record Organization in the Top 20 favorite destinations for tourists when coming to Vietnam. Festivals and traditional craft villages in Tuy An have been formed for a long time, containing the typical cultural features of the land. Based on the general planning project of Chi Thanh urban area and surrounding areas by 2035, Tuy An town will have 15 administrative units, including 9 urban wards and 6 suburban communes. The administrative units are expected to develop into inner-city wards, with the criteria of type IV urban areas, including: Chi Thanh town becomes Chi Thanh ward and the communes of An Dan, An Thach, An Ninh Tay, An Ninh Dong, An Cu, An Hoa Hai, An My, An Chan; the communes of An Linh, An Xuan, An Tho, An Nghiep, An Dinh, An Hiep are suburban areas of Tuy An town.
